MEET Shannon:

Hi, I’m Shannon! I currently live in Minneapolis, MN with my husband, John, our two boys Lewis and Casey, and my fur baby, Doug. We are super active and always on the go - except for nap times. Those are sacred!

Shannon'S CALLING TO SURROGACY:

We recently finished our surrogate journey with our beautiful, kind, and generous surrogate, Nanette. I am lucky in that I was able to carry my first son, Lewis to term, but along the way discovered a health condition that put my eyesight at risk. Although I am still reading at 20/20 (don’t ask about driving at night), it meant that I had to find a different path to complete our family. Enter Nanette. She is an incredible mother of 3 (!) little ones, works weekend nights as a newborn care nurse and really wanted to help me - a complete stranger - build my family. We are so lucky to have her. She birthed our son, Casey, in June and being in that room when he was born was the most incredible experience of my life. I will never forget how I felt when he was finally put into my arms and Nanette said to me: “How ya doin’, mama?” Cue the tears!

Shannon's Surrogacy Story:

It is hard to see myself as courageous in these circumstances. I give all the credit to Nanette for having the strength and bravery to do this for us. Although, letting go and trusting the process during a Pandemic took some courage! But, I knew we had a strong foundation and that she would be safe, do the best thing for herself and our baby and keep open lines of communication along the way.

Shannon's Favorite Moment:

Going through this journey, I knew I needed to help other families like mine experience the joy and connection that surrogacy brings. ConceiveAbilities has been my path to do that and I am so proud to represent a company with such a strong mission - helping build families!
